I'm beginning to think that Washington D. C. has become a Hollywood remake mill. Consider:
Dumb and Dumberer
Where George W. Bush does a masterful double role as both Harold and Lloyd.
The Godfather
Treasurer Secretary Henry Paulson takes the role of Don Vito Corleone with Ben Bernanke as his consigliere. Gathering the nation's major bankers in one room Don Vito (Paulson) makes them an offer they can't refuse - sell off parts of all of their banks to the Don, or else. The gathered bankers kiss the Don's ring and sell.
Clear and Present Danger
An unscrupulous CIA agent, George Tenet takes the role of Robert Ritter, get a top secret letter signed by the President (played by Lloyd Christmas) authorizing him to break several laws and torture people willy-nilly (This movie contains within it a remake of Saw II.) Unfortunately, there is nobody playing the role of Jack Ryan so this movie descends into a very unfunny slasher/comedy.
Titanic
A disinterested captain on his last voyage accidently collides his ship with a huge icy debt. Despite heroic efforts by young Jack Dawson (Barack Obama) the famously unsinkable ship sinks. Comic relief is provided by John McCain playing a bitter, irascible old salt.
