It's Called the Memory Hole

DOJ changes history.

The practice of governments changing facts and official statements and making the previous facts and statements disappear was described in the novel 1984. In the novel, embarrassing items like past shoe production statistics were dropped into a small chute that led to a huge incinerator. In modern times all it takes is a few strokes on a computer to make history change or disappear.

But it's the same thing and you'd think any literate Administration official would know that he really can't get away with it.
