20 Trillion Gallons of Water

That is the predicted rainfall in Texas due to hurricane Harvey. To put that is perspective, 20 trillion gallons is:
  • The total flow of the Mississippi River for two months.
  • The total capacity of the Great Salt Lake, times four.
  • Enough fresh water to supply all the water needs of Texas for five years. (agriculture, industry, human consumption)
  • The total fresh water usage of every household in the United States for six months.
Of course 99.99 percent of this rainfall will flow into the Gulf of Mexico helping no one and causing unimaginable devastation on the way.
