Personally, I'm not a big fan of E85. It may be cheaper but it's not as efficient as gasoline. I think biodiesel will be the way to go as far as biofuels go. Biodiesel is actually old technology that has a proven track record.
I haven't done a study of the alternatives. My impressions is that the energy required to make E85 exceeds what is gained, although it is cleaner burning. E85 is my least favorite alternative. I would like to get away from the combustion concept of energy but that won't happen in my lifetime.
